water protection membrane

Home Builders BP FELT underlayment / membrane is designed is designed and manufactured to allow the transmission of moisture vapor, allowing the roof deck to breathe, while keeping bulk water from shingle leaks out. This helps prevent the rotting of wood decks, which can be caused by non-permeable products, and helps roofing materials last longer. Home Builder BP Felt paper is used beneath shingles, shakes or tiles as a secondary protective layer between the roof deck and the finished roofing. This secondary layer protects against wind-blown moisture which may occasionally penetrate past the shingles or other roofing material.

Outstanding benefits

Layer_1

Help the roof breath better

  • Felt paper, often used on roof decks and wrapped around the house, safeguards OSB from water and moisture, while serving as a water vapor barrier to enhance roof deck breathability.
48_48-7

Long lasting

  • Felt paper typically lasts 15-20 years, depending on weather conditions and installation. Not only does it have a long lifespan, but it also contributes to the overall longevity of your roof and walls.

No mold

  • Thanks to its characteristics and breathability, felt paper helps prevent the development of mold on your roof deck, roof shingles, and walls.
48_48

No moisture

  • Felt paper is crafted with water-repellent properties, operating as a shield rather than a sponge, effectively preventing moisture from penetrating the roof deck
Capa_1

No leak

  • Felt paper may not prevent leaks outright, but its moisture-resistant nature aids in minimizing moisture, condensation, and the ingress of water.
48_48-8

Easy to install

  • HAL felt paper is designed for user-friendly installation, featuring overlap markings that clearly indicate which side should face up and which side should be down on the OSB decking system.

Leed certified

  • Felt paper is a green product when compare with other man made fiber or membrane.

Install the battens with a center-to-center spacing of 40.5 cm to support the OSB.

Step 2

After preparing the surface, simply peel off the release liner, unroll Peel & Seal® and press into place. Roll the entire surface, paying special attention to the seams, to ensure the best adhesion.

Step 3

  • The recommended roof pitch or slope for installing felt paper for moisture resistance purposes is 15 degrees, as suggested by the manufacturer. However, Home Builders BP recommends a roof pitch or slope of 18 degrees and above. This precaution is taken into consideration as structures may settle over time, potentially reducing the initial pitch and causing long-term issues with the roof.
  • Felt paper serves as an underlayment and moisture repellent but is not a waterproofing membrane. Unlike self-adhesive bituminous membranes, it does not provide comprehensive water protection.
  • As a manufacturer of synthetic thatch or artificial thatch roofing, we do not recommend using felt paper as underlayment. Felt is best suited for asphalt shingle roofs, wall cladding, house wrap, or even under metal sheet roofing. However, it is not suitable for roofing where water tightness is a critical factor.
  • To install felt paper we suggest use to use Stainless steal U- staples and overlapping at every 10 – 15 cm depending on your roof type. For better recommendation please contact us.
